How It Works

Acotiwel tablets contain acotiamide hydrochloride, a gastroprokinetic agent that helps treat functional dyspepsia. It works by inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter in the digestive system. This action enhances gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying, providing relief from symptoms such as early satiety, postprandial fullness, upper abdominal bloating, and nausea associated with functional dyspepsia.

 
 
Indications

Functional Dyspepsia: Relief of symptoms such as early satiety, postprandial fullness, upper abdominal bloating, and nausea associated with functional dyspepsia.

Dosage
  • Adults: Typically, 100 mg (one tablet) three times daily, before meals.
  • Dosage Adjustment: Adjustments may be made based on individual patient response and tolerability.
Side Effects
  • Common Side Effects: Diarrhea, headache, abdominal pain or discomfort.
  • Less Common Side Effects: Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and skin rash.
  • Rare but Serious Side Effects: Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, swelling), difficulty breathing, and chest tightness.
Contraindication
  • Allergy: Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to acotiamide hydrochloride or any of the tablet’s components.
